This Civic Tech breakfast session will provide a platform for entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts and others to engage and exchange ideas about technology in South African townships. The event will explore how South African township enterprises can develop and grow its enterprises using the latest technology.
“This is the latest outcome of the joint partnership between IBM Research and Wits, which started in 2016 when IBM opened its second lab in Africa in Wits University’s Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct in Johannesburg,” said Professor Zeblon Vilakazi, Wits Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Postgraduate Affairs.
A three-year EUR 950, 000 (R 14,500,000) grant from AFD will enable Tshimologong to expand its activities to incorporate audiovisual content creation (animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, holograms, 360° video, web content, video games, applications, web series and music).
