The role of the Marketing Coordinator is integral to the effective delivery of Marketing, Communication and PR services to the Precinct. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator must ensure that campaigns get done on time, in full and within budget.

Our Marketing Coordinator will collaborate with key players on our Marketing and Events teams to make sure that each campaign gets the resources and attention it needs to be successful. The ability to work in a team as well as on one’s own is essential. The successful candidate for this role will also be responsible for handling correspondence with clients and communicating with other departments within the company to keep marketing campaigns on track.

Proven ability to track and report on campaigns is essential.

The role of the Marketing Coordinator specifically entails, but is not limited to the following:


  • Be able to add and edit content on a Word press site
  • Be able to both receive and create briefs from internal stakeholders and external clients


  • Will help research, develop and implement marketing membership growth campaigns
  • Will organize the planning, implementation and tracking of promotional campaigns
  • Assist in planning as well as execution of activations- both at expos and at different sites eg WITS or UJ campus
  • Keep promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements and keeping an accurate inventory, placing orders; verifying receipt and storing safely
  • Assist in planning as well as execution of social media campaigns

Keep people informed

  • Be an excellent communicator both written and verbal
  • Prepare contextual and compelling social media campaign reports


  • Develop a database of people who want communication from Tshimologong Precinct
  • Produce a monthly newsletter, including upcoming events
  • Features in Wits News
  • Monthly articles in Wits Review
  • Compile of a quarterly newsletter to all the partners of Tshimologong Precinct
  • Design Multimedia graphics for marketing campaigns
  • Write copy for online and offline channels (social media posts and website)
  • Plan marketing for events by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments; coordinating mailing lists


  • Be self-driven and be able to organise as well as run meetings with staff and clients
  • Have a keen eye for detail

  • Proficiency in English is a requirement, both written and verbal

A 3 year Degree/ Diploma (at least NQF level 6)


3 to 5 years’ experience in a fast paced, uncertain and complex Marketing and Events environment

Have worked in an Events and PR agency environment

Worked in a multi-disciplinary team

Work proficiently on excel (campaign reporting and metrics / dashboard)
