Calling all Enterprise Development Managers

Wits Incubator (Pty) Ltd trading as Tshimologong Precinct is wholly owned by Wits Commercial Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of the Witwatersrand.

Tshimologong Precinct was established to develop world class entrepreneurial and employable skills for the the African digital economy. We collaborate with academia, corporates, government and entrepreneurs, thereby fostering a digital innovation ecosystem.

The role of Entrepreneur Development Manager is an integral part of the Tshimologong Precinct experience. It requires the incumbent to be passionate about helping people learn and grow. It is also a role that interfaces with all other functions in the organisation so requires a high degree of adaptability. The role entails the implementation of the following initiatives:  


  • Design entrepreneur development programming based on research and the requirements of strategic partners
  • Understand the developmental needs of tech startups and respond to it through the creation and delivery of incubation programmes, relevant workshops, bootcamps and master classes
  • Include strategic partners in the development of an advisory and mentor network that supports the success of incubated ventures
  • Forge relevant partnerships with other organisations that deliver services to or support entrepreneurs
  • Develop a pool of facilitators and other vendors of entrepreneur development programming and manage these relationships
  • Manage administration of entrepreneur development programming
  • Develop and monitor the budget of the entrepreneur development team
  • Work with the MakerSpace and Tech Manager to ensure sound development of startups supported
  • Working with the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, ensure that programme reports are developed as required by partners, funders, the management committee and board.


  • An understanding of enterprise development frameworks i.e. Design Thinking, Lean Startup et.al
  • Sound knowledge of business model innovation in the tech sector
  • Effective team management skills that build and inspire the team to accountability and deliver at their full potential
  • A generic understanding of technology innovation processes
  • Teaching and facilitation skills

  • Deadline-oriented


  • A business degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ years experience in a business incubator, a startup advisory or other entrepreneurial experience – demonstrating personal entrepreneurial capability is desirable
