The job title is Intern Software Developer within the Software Development Unit. The Employee will report to the Software Development Manager. The role of the intern developer is to develop, test and maintain software applications in accordance with software engineering processes used at the used at the Tshimologong Software Development Unit (SDU). The skill level of this position means that the employee will spend time learning and is able to carry out tasks under supervision. The SDU adheres to Agile development practices.

Wits Incubator (Pty) Ltd trading as Tshimologong Precinct is wholly owned by Wits Commercial Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of the Witwatersrand.
Tshimologong Precinct was established to develop world class entrepreneurial and employable skills for the the African digital economy. We collaborate with academia, corporates, government and entrepreneurs, thereby fostering a digital innovation ecosystem.
In July 2018, the Digital Content Hub was launched at Tshimologong Precinct with support from the Agence Française De Développement (AFD) and Institute of France SA (IFAS). This provides the opportunity to develop our programming in digital content including the Fakugesi Festival, jamlab (journalism and media accelerator), Digital Lab Africa and our Skills Academy with studios focusing on animation and gaming.
The line of reporting for this role is to the Digital Content’s Business Development Manager, working in close interaction with respective content programme managers as well as the funder Agence Française De Développement (AFD) and technical partner Institute of France SA (IFAS).
