This Civic Tech breakfast session will provide a platform for entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts and others to engage and exchange ideas about technology in South African townships. The event will explore how South African township enterprises can develop and grow its enterprises using the latest technology.
“This is the latest outcome of the joint partnership between IBM Research and Wits, which started in 2016 when IBM opened its second lab in Africa in Wits University’s Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct in Johannesburg,” said Professor Zeblon Vilakazi, Wits Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Postgraduate Affairs.
The only dedicated African animation festival of the continent is back this year from the 8th to the 10th of March, 2019, presented by Animation SA and its partners. For three days, the Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) will offer the best of African animation, through various screenings, talks, masterclasses as well as workshops, networking sessions and an exhibition area.
Johannesburg based innovation hub Tshimologong and its Digital Content Hub will be well represented at the Festival, first through the presence of Isabelle Rorke – animation expert at Tshimologong – as speaker of CTIAF industry programme. In addition, three experts of the third edition of Digital Lab Africa (DLA) are featured in the programme as speakers: Lesego Vorster, founder and CEO of The Hidden Hand Studio animation company, Isaac Mogajane, Co-founder and Head of Development for Diprente Films and Stuart Forrest, CEO of Triggerfish Animation, they are all collaborating with the DLA mentorship programme in the Animation category as mentors.
