Digital Twin technology offers South Africa with an opportunity to address challenges across municipalities in the country.
While digital twin ecosystems may seem way off into the future, the reality is that they are already starting to help cities become smarter. During the webinar, Dr. Calayde Davey will host a roundtable discussion with experts in the field to unpack how, with the right technology investments, the way cities operate could be completely transformed and how this can allow decision-makers at municipal, provincial and at national level to use live data to identify where maintenance is needed or predict where congestion might happen during loadshedding, etc.
Dr. Calayde Davey is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the University of Pretoria. Her research focuses on Smart Cities and Neighbourhoods, where the flagship project is the development of a digital twin for the Hatfield Development District.
