The webinar will unpack how, with the right technology investments, the way cities operate could be completely transformed and how this transformation can allow decision-makers (by using live data) identify where maintenance is needed.
The aim of the Digital Twin hackathon is to stretch the minds of South African and Dutch university students from different academic disciplines to solve relevant city problems. Participants will be able to experiment with emerging technologies and improve their problem-solving abilities. The outcomes of the hackathon will potentially benefit the City of Johannesburg and improveΒ the daily lives of those people residing, working, or simply navigating through this city.

Dr. Calayde Davey is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the University of Pretoria. Her research focuses on Smart Cities and Neighbourhoods, where the flagship project is the development of a digital twin for the Hatfield Development District.
